Ellis Named NCCAA Scholar-Athlete

Minneapolis, Minn.

The Thunder women's basketball team traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota earlier this week for the 2026 NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament. Before the the tournament starts, awards such as, All-Americans and NCCAA Scholar-Athletes, are announced and the Thunder had one earn Scholar-Athlete honors. Redshirt-sophomore, Madison Ellis would be the lone student-athlete from the women's team to be named a Scholar-Athlete. To earn scholar-athlete honors you must be a junior, senior or graduate student, complete at least one term, and have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a 4.00 scale at the nominating institution. Ellis has been at Manhattan Christian College for three seasons deeming her a junior in the classroom.

The Thunder will open National Tournament play today at 6:00PM when they play the host and the #10 seed, Crown College.
