Recap: Thunder Men's Soccer Earns Draw with Union Adventist
The Thunder men's soccer team had great weather for a soccer match on Friday compared to Tuesday's rainy match. It would be a NCCAA Central Region match against the Union Adventist University Warriors on Friday as it would be the first time each have met this season. The Warriors came into the match 0-2-0 in Central Region play, while the Thunder were 0-2-1. The Warriors would score first on a defensive miscue in the first half. With time running out in the first half, senior, Chris Smith II had a free kick from just inside midfield and launched a missile just over the outstretched hand of the Warrior goalie to tie the match at one with two seconds remaining. There were many chances for both teams to score in the second half, but neither could take advantage. In full time, the match would end in a 1-1 draw. The Thunder now move to 1-7-2 overall and 0-2-2 in Central Region play.
The Sons of Thunder will play at home again on Tuesday, October 6th in a Midwest Christian College Conference and Central Region match with the Barclay College Bears at 2:00PM at Frank Anneberg Park in Manhattan, Kansas. The Thunder fell to the Bears, 6-0, in Haviland, Kansas on September 22nd.
