Recap: Thunder Men's Soccer Falls Behind Early in Loss to Barclay
The Thunder men's soccer team would hop back into Midwest Christian College Conference play on Tuesday afternoon when the Barclay College Bears visited Manhattan. The Thunder and Bears met in Haviland in September where the Bears would get the victory. On Tuesday, the Thunder would fall behind early to the Bears and would be unable to get back in the match. The Bears would take a 3-0 lead 24 minutes into the first half. Freshman, Jakob Meisenzahl would get the Thunder on the board off an assist from senior, Chris Smith II. The Bears would knock in one more goal before the half to take a 4-1 lead. The Thunder would not be able to get a push on the offensive end, but would hold the Bears to only one second half goal. In the end, the Thunder would fall to the Bears, 5-1. Sophomore, Chase Powell would have 17 saves in goal. The Thunder are now 1-8-2 overall, 1-4-1 in the MCCC, and 0-3-2 in the Central Region.
The Sons of Thunder will play in another MCCC and Central Region match on Saturday, October 9th on the road against the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors at 3:00PM in Joplin, Missouri. The Thunder tied with the Ambassadors, 1-1, in a weather-shortened match on September 19th.
