The Thunder volleyball team traveled to Missouri this weekend to play two matches. Their first stop would be in Nevada, Missouri to play the Cottey College Comets. The Thunder and Comets would play back in August at the Thunder Invitational where the Thunder would sweep the Comets. On Friday afternoon, the Thunder would be in a battle. In the first set, the Comets would take it easily with a 25-10 win, but the Thunder would bounce back with a 25-23 second set win. Another set win by the Comets put them ahead 2-1 headed into the fourth set. The Thunder would force a fifth set with a 25-22 win. The Thunder could not get the offense going and would drop the final set, 15-7. Junior, Ellie Wilson would have a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs, while fellow junior, Malloree Matlack would have 26 digs.

On Saturday afternoon, thenThunder would travel south to Joplin, Missouri to play rival, the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors. The Thunder swept the Ambassadors on September 19th in Manhattan. The Thunder and Ambassadors would split the first to sets, but the Thunder would close out their rival in commanding 25-16, 25-11 third and fourth sets wins, respectively. Wilson would have another double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Freshman, Jordan Miller would also have double digit kills with 13, while sophomore, Katie Drake would stuff the stat sheet with seven kills, five digs, and four blocks (two solo, two assists). In splitting two matches this weekend, the Thunder are now 13-3 overall, 6-0 in the Midwest Christian College Conference, and 7-0 in the NCCAA Central Region.

The Thunder play their final NAIA opponent for their next match as they play the Tabor College Bluejays on Wednesday, October 14th at 6:00PM in Hillsboro, Kansas.
