MCC Named NCCAA #KingChasing Institution of the Year

Sanders King Chasing
Greenville, S.C.

Manhattan Christian College was named the National Christian College Athletic Association #KingChasing Institution of the Year for the 2023-2024 academic year. Athletic Director Lauren Sanders received the honor at the NCCAA National Convention.

The #KingChasing program uses the four values of the Game Plan 4 LIFE – Love, Integrity, Faith, and Excellence – to enhance the purpose of collegiate athletics to be more than winning championships. The mission of the #KingChasing program is to keep Christ at the center of the student-athlete experience.

NCCAA member institutions have the opportunity to be named an NCCAA #KingChasing Institution on an annual basis. Earning this title will showcase the institution's commitment to integrating Christ within its athletic department. This is the second year that MCC was named a #KingChasing Institution finalist.

MCC was one of three finalists earning the highest of points and was voted by the National Office as the #KingChasing Institution of the Year.

The #KingChasing Standards are foundational elements that athletic department staff and student-athletes at Manhattan Christian College commit to represent and uphold.

Institutions can earn points in numerous ways including:

  • Coaching staff connecting with other NCCAA and non-NCCAA institutions and praying for them.
  • Athletic Staff holding meetings and creating a culture that upholds the #KingChasing Standards.
  • Student-Athletes participating in Christian Service Projects (CSP). Some of the CSP's that our athletic department participated in included:
    • Serving at Life Choice Ministries, Young Life and Be Able Community Center
    • School Supply Drive
    • Operation Christmas Child
    • Creating and serving at VBS programs
  • Scholar-Athletes - we had 4 teams with scholar-athletes

"This is quite the honor to receive for MCC Athletics. It is a testament to the culture that our athletic department staff and coaching staff work to build for our student-athletes. This award is a reflection of what our student-athletes do in the classroom and off the court. Our hope and prayer is that all of our athletes would see the bigger picture and that it's not just about winning games, but about living up to the standards of Love, Integrity, Faith and Excellence and keeping Christ at the center of everything." said Sanders.

Eleven other NCCAA institutions were named 2023-2024 #KingChasing Institutions including Asbury University, Bethel University, Bob Jones University, Campbellsville University, Grace College, Mid-America Christian University, Oak Hills Christian College, Randall University, Trinity Baptist College and University of Northwestern.
