Theobald Inducted in 2024 Hall of Fame
Manhattan Christian College Athletics has inducted Pat Theobald as the 2024-2025 Hall of Fame Class at the Vision 360 banquet. Pat Theobald played men’s basketball for the Crusaders from 1972-1976 and coached men’s basketball from 1977-1982.
Theobald was named MVP of the Midwest Christian College Conference (MCCC) in his senior season and a member of the All-Conference Team three times. He played in 54 games scoring 1,109 career points. Averaging 20.5 points per game throughout his career, he holds the record for the second highest average of points per game. He also ranks 15th in field goals made with 487 and 11th in free throw percentage with 77.1%. In his junior year, the 1974-75 Crusader team won the MCCC Tournament and finished the season with a 19-6 record. In his senior season, Theobald averaged 21.8 points per game, which is the third highest scoring average in one season.
Theobald became head coach of the MCC men’s basketball team in 1977. In six years under his leadership, the program won 62 games, captured the 1980 MCCC Tournament championship, and three players were named MCCC All-Conference. As a student in the Dual Degree program 1972-77, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in Secondary Education. He continued his education becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and opened his own practice in 1987.
He kept his basketball skills sharp as official scorekeeper for Marshfield High School for 23 years. He also coached all
seven of his children in various sports as they became involved in different activities. Theobald is retired and lives in Marshfield, MO with his wife, Amber, whom he met at MCC.
