Defending National Champion Thunder Volleyball Announces 2026 Schedule

Manhattan, Kan.

Manhattan Christian College Athletics and the defending National Champions are excited to announce the 2026 Thunder Volleyball schedule. Coming off their first ever NCCAA Division II Volleyball National Championship, the Thunder are ready to defend their title. MCC finished with a 32-1 record in 2025 and were the Midwest Christian College Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions, finishing undefeated for the seventh year in a row. They currently hold a regular season conference match win streak of 66 consecutive matches. The Thunder won the 2025 Central Regional Tournament Championship as well, which was their ninth Region Tournament Championship advancing the team to the National Championship Tournament for the seventeenth time in the last 20 seasons.

The season kicks off with the Thunder Invitational Tournament on August 28th and 29th, facing two NAIA opponents over this weekend. Manhattan Christian Volleyball will host NCCAA opponent, Dallas Christian College, before facing Cottey College, Sterling College, and Kansas Christian College. The Thunder will play 11 straight home matches before their first road match in late September. September and October mostly be filled with Midwest Christian College Conference and NCCAA Central Region play.

The Thunder squad will play two other non-conference and non-region opponents in Randall University, who they will play twice, and Tabor College on the road on October 14th. They will also play Kansas Christian College and Cottey College on the road after playing both at home during the Thunder Invitational. The Thunder will play a total of 22 regular season games before starting postseason play at the end of October.

The Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament will be held at Central Bible University in Moberly, Missouri on October 30th and October 31st. The NCCAA Central Region Tournament will be held at Calvary University in Belton, Missouri as the Thunder will compete for a spot in the NCCAA National Volleyball Championship for the sixth consecutive season while looking to repeat as National Champions. The National Championship Tournament will be held at a new site starting in 2026 as Arlington Baptist University in Arlington, Texas will host from on November 18th-21st.
