Recap: Thunder Men's Basketball Doomed by Slow Start and Falls to Doane
The Thunder men's basketball team would travel to Crete, Nebraska on Wednesday afternoon to play Doane University for their final game of 2025. The Thunder would take a 3-0 lead on the first possession of the game, but the Tigers would go on a 12-0 run before the Thunder scored their next basket. The Tigers would take their largest lead of the game with 6:09 in left in the half, a 20-point advantage, 35-15. The Thunder would battle back to close the half with an 18-8 run to cut the lead in half, 43-33. A 7-0 run to start the second half would cut the Tiger lead to three. The Thunder would get as close as two in back to back possessions, but the Tigers would expand the lead back to double digits with 10:49 remaining. The Thunder would only cut the deficit under 10 points twice more from the 9:59 point onward in the second half. With early turnovers and the large early deficit, the Thunder could not overcome it and fall to Doane on New Year's Eve, 88-76. The Thunder would have five players score in double figures lead by senior, Fred Criqui who had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. The trio of Hunter Hill, James Braddy, and Xavier Lucas would all have 12 points a piece. The Thunder would shoot 41.9% from the field, 47.4% from the three-point line, and 71.4% from the free throw line. The Thunder are now 9-5 overall after playing their final NAIA opponent of the season.
