Recap: #3 Seed Men's Basketball Falls in NCCAA Final Four to #2 Seed Spurgeon

St. Bonifacius, Minn.

The Thunder men's basketball team made their eighth NCCAA Final Four appearance and took on the Spurgeon College Knights on Friday evening. The #3 seed Thunder jumped all over the #2 seed Knights and led 13-1 to start. The Thunder would take a 47-39 lead into the half and be in a back and forth battle throughout the second half. The Knights would take the lead with 14:15, but the Thunder would regain the lead with 9:52 remaining in the game. Second chances and free throws would close the game out for the Knights and the Thunder would fall 92-85.

The Thunder would shoot 39.7% from the field, 35.3% from the three-point line, and 80.6% from the free throw line. Senior, Micah Lovett would lead the Thunder with 19 points, going 12-12 from the free throw line, five rebounds, and six assists. Sophomore, Davis Rokey would have a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Juniors, Xavier Lucas and Jaxon Hurla would chip in with 12 points and 10 points, respectively.

The Thunder will play in the third place game tomorrow against the host the Crown College Polars at 2:45 PM.
