Thunder Women's Basketball Receives No. 7 Seed for NCCAA National Tournament
After winning the NCCAA Central Region Tournament, the Thunder women's basketball team will head to the National Tournament in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota as the #7 seed in the 10-team tournament. This is the first time since 2009 that the tournament field is at 10 teams. The Thunder have received the #7 seed after winning the Central Region Tournament for the first time since 2014. In 2014, the Thunder were the #3 seed at the National Tournament. The last time the Thunder made the tournament was during the 2018 season when the tournament was only a six-team field. The Thunder are looking for their first win at the National Tournament since 2013, when they finished as the National Runner-Up. The Thunder will play the host and #10 seed Crown College on Wednesday, March 11th at 6:00PM. The Thunder and the Polars most recently met back in the 2005 in the fifth place game at the National Tournament. In total, the Thunder and Polars have met three times at the National Tournament with the Thunder holding a 2-1 advantage. The winner of this game will play the #2 seed Pensacola Christian College in the quarterfinal on Thursday, March 12th at 8:00PM.
