Head coach Lauren Sanders had this to say about her most recent recruiting class, "We are excited to add these four student-athletes to our roster! All four are committed student-athletes who will bring experience, great energy and love for the Lord! The key to this class is the depth that we are adding at several key positions. We knew we needed to continue to push our roster and bring in high level athletes to continue our run at the national tournament.
In the setting position, we will bring in Ellie Suber and Anja VonSpreckelsen. Suber played high level high school and club volleyball in the Kansas City area and a season at Hutchinson Community College. We expect her to make an immediate impact on the court and will strengthen our game both offensively and defensively. VonSpreckelsen comes to MCC after taking a gap year. She brings great energy and will add depth. Katie Drake will deepen our middle hitter positions as well. Drake is a legacy student, as both of her parents are alumni of MCC and participated in athletics. She is athletic, very hardworking and has a solid foundation to build on! Cheyenne Crow will be a utility player who has experience in the front and back row, so we will have options with where she will fit the best. Crow brings an incredible work ethic and desire to learn and we are excited to see how she develops.
Each of these student-athletes will bring a lot to the court athletically, but they also all bring a strong desire to serve the Lord and use volleyball as that tool. We have a roster of 16 talented student-athletes and we are looking to continue building and pushing toward our goal of a National Championship."
The Thunder will kick off their season with a double-header at their invitational on Friday, August 29th against Dallas Christian and Cottey.
