With the finish of the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament last week, both the Men's and Women's basketball teams are looking towards the Southwest Regional Tournament this week. Kansas Christian in Overland Park, KS is the host site, which will begin Wednesday February 23rd and conclude with championship games Saturday February 26. 

On the men's side, the Thunder are coming off a great conference tournament run, which saw them take home both Regular Season and Tournament Championships. MCC faced Central Christian (MO) in the semifinals, winning 73-54 to get them into the championship game against Barclay College. A very intense game, but MCC prevailed on top with a 81-69 victory to be back to back Tournament Champs. Heading into this weeks SW Regional with the #2 overall seed, Manhattan will face the winner of Randall University and Dallas Christian on February 23 at 5pm. 

For the Lady Thunder, the MCCC tournament wasn't as successful. Seeing themselves shorthanded due to late season injures, Manhattan went into the tournaments with five players. Having been through this before, the ladies weren't going to back down but in the end just wasn't enough. Losing to Faith Baptist Bible in the quarterfinals 83-72 sent MCC straight to the 5th and 6th place game where they saw Barclay College. A close game to start but just never could close the gap in the final quarter resulting in a 69-58 lose. This week the Lady Thunder will start the SW Region Tournament with the #7 seed and play #2 Champion Christian Thursday February 24 at 6pm. 

Both the Men's and Women's basketball teams had players named to the All-Conference Teams. Kayleigh Mannering was selected to the 1st Team, while Roni Harris was named to the 2nd Team. For the Men, Jeff Butler was selected for the 2nd team while Jordan White and Jordan Marshall were on the 1st team. Marshall was also named the Midwest Christian Conference MVP.
