Recap: Thunder Men's Basketball Plays First Ever NCAA Division I Opponent in Exhibition with Tulsa
The Thunder men's basketball team traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play their first ever NCAA Division I opponent in program history on Tuesday night. This is also the first time Manhattan Christian College has ever competed on the Division I stage in any sport. The Thunder would take a one point lead two separate times in the first three minutes of the game. After the first media timeout, the Thunder would trail 16-9. The Golden Hurricane would go on 27-6 run through the next two medias to extend their lead. At the half, the Thunder would trail 61-22. To start the second half, the Thunder and Golden Hurricane would exchange baskets early on. The Thunder would battle in the second half and only be outscored 50-38 in the second 20 minutes. In the Thunder's first ever game against a Division I team, they would give a valiant effort and fall to the Golden Hurricane, 111-60. Senior, Jaxon Hurla would lead the Thunder with 12 points on 5-10 shooting from the field, while Bartlesville, Oklahoma native, Jordan Carter would chip in with 10 points. Senior, Fred Criqui would have a balanced game with five points, three rebounds, and two blocks. The Thunder would shoot 33.8% from the field, 23.7% from the three-point line, and 50.0% from the free throw line.
The Thunder will open their Midwest Christian College Conference slate on Friday, December 5th when they travel to Ankeny, Iowa to play Emmaus University at Faith Baptist Bible College at 3:00PM.
