Recap: No. 10 Thunder Women's Basketball Pick Up Win Over Kansas Christian

Manhattan, Kan.

The #10 ranked Thunder women's basketball team took the court on Tuesday night against NCCAA Division I, Kansas Christian. The Thunder are coming off a win on the road against Randall and were looking to continue their winning ways. After one quarter, the Thunder would find themselves down by one to the Falcons after jumping out to a 6-0 lead. The Thunder would lead by as much as 11 in the second quarter, but the Falcons would only trail 29-27 headed into the half. The third quarter would be filled with ties and lead changes as the Thunder and Falcons would battle it out and the Thunder would take a 45-44 lead into the fourth. With 4:41 remaining in the game, the Thunder would take a seven point lead, but the Falcons would not go way. A three-pointer by the Falcons with 1:25 left would cut the Thunder lead to one. Stout defense and timely free throws would close the game for the Thunder and they would earn their 10th win of the season by a score of 65-62. Redshirt-junior, Nekayla Williams would have a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Thunder. Sophomore, Elayna Wegner would have 10 points and eight rebounds, while true freshman Tahlia Morris would have eight points, four rebounds, and three assists. The Thunder would shoot 39.3% from the field, 25.0% from the three-point line, and 68.8% from the free throw line.

The Thunder will play again tomorrow in a rescheduled game against Calvary University in Belton, Missouri at 5:00PM.
