Four Thunder Volleyball Players Represented on All-Conference Teams

Manhattan, Kan.

The Thunder volleyball team captured the 2024 Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament title this past weekend, but some also left Dubuque, Iowa with a few individual honors as well. The Thunder had four players represented on the MCCC All-Conference teams. Junior, outside hitter, Liv Lubbers would win conference MVP along with a first-team nod. Lubbers has 247 kills with a 0.270 attack percentage before postseason play. On the defensive end, she has 211 digs, eight solo blocks, and six block assists. She also has recorded 25 services aces. Junior, middle hitter, Jacey Schurle also got a first team nod for the Thunder. Schurle has a team-leading 250 kills with a staggering 0.522 attack percentage that also leads the team. On the defensive side, she has a total of 63 blocks (39 solo, 24 assists) for the Thunder. She has also recorded 20 service aces. Junior, defensive specialist and libero, Abby Blake would be named to the second-team. Blake had 452 digs and recorded 34 service aces. The final Thunder player to make the all-conference team is sophomore, setter, Josie Mehl who was named to the second-team. Mehl had 873 assists to set up the Thunder's offensive attack. She also had 47 kills, 31 service aces, and 21 total blocks (12 solo, nine assists).

The Thunder will have a bye into the semifinal of the NCCAA Central Region Tournament and will play the winner of the #4/#5 match. This match will be on Thursday, November 7th at 5:00 PM at the Mathena Student Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The championship match will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 8th.
