Men's Basketball Outlasts #2 Kansas Christian

For the first time in the young season the #8 ranked Thunder squad went on the road for a Top 10 matchup as they traveled to Overland Park for a date with the #2 ranked Falcons from Kansas Christian College. Throughout the young season both KCC and MCC had posted similar records with similar results. The game started out like a boxing match with both teams feeling out the process. MCC would jump out to an early 9-3 lead with under 15 minutes to go, but KCC would answer taking a one point lead around the ten minute mark. On the backs of their seniors the Thunder would push out to a first half lead by as many as ten points before finishing the half up 42-36.
The second half would start in a furry of made baskets as senior, Ferdinand Handy, Jr., got hot knocking down four 3 point shots in the span of six possessions capping off a 14-2 run to begin the second half. KCC would get right back into it though and answered with an 8-0 run of their own. The game would become a back and forth affair in the second half ending with the Thunder taking home a 5 point win on the road against the #2 team in the country.
"I'm proud of our team and how they've competed this season. After losing the senior class that we had last year it would've been easy to pack it in and go through the motions this year, but they've put in the time and effort required to compete and are playing well together," commented Head Coach Jordan Strom.
The Thunder will be back in action on December 8 as they travel to Madison, SD for a date with the Trojans of Dakota State University.

Marshall Signs with NTD BH of Azerbaijan Superleague

2022 NCCAA 1st Team All-American, Jordan Marshall, has signed with NTD BH of the Azerbaijan Superleague. Azerbaijan is located off of the Caspian Sea east of the country of Armenia. Marshall, a 6'7 forward, spent his COVID season with the Thunder in 2021-2022 earning conference MVP, Region MVP and all-American honors with the NCCAA while helping the Thunder to a 24-9 record including a conference regular season and tournament championship.
"I'm so proud of Jordan. He came to MCC after spending three years at Randall University (Moore, OK) and fit in seamlessly with the team. We preach being a good teammate and that's probably the best part of the legacy he left with our program. I couldn't be more thrilled for him," stated Head Coach Jordan Strom.
Marshall and his NTD BH teammates have started season play and will push to make their second consecutive post season appearance. Read more about Jordan Marshall signing with NTD BH here.

Men's Thunder Basketball Release the 2022-23 Game Schedule
A very motivated Thunder squad is excited to announce the upcoming schedule for the 2022-23 season. After an outstanding season last year, the Manhattan Christian men's basketball team is looking to build off and make another run to the National tournament.
"I am excited about this group. With 10 guys back from last years final four team and the 5 new guys we brought in, it's been a fun team to be around so far. I can't wait to get after it at the end of October!" stated head coach Jordan Strom, who is heading in to his fourth year at MCC.
The Thunder will get the season started off on October 29 at home against Southwest Region foe, Southwestern Adventist University. From there, they will compete in the Central Christian Classic for Christ in McPherson, KS the first week of November, leading them in to a string of road games. MCC's non-conference schedule will consist of five NAIA schools, like Kansas Wesleyan University and Doane University. The team will also play against four Division II teams early including Fort Hays State University and University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Before conference play opens up in January with the MCCC Midseason Classic held at Calvary University, the Thunder will have played Randall University and Kansas Christian College first semester, both in the SW Region. The first home game coming back from Christmas will be on January 14 when they host Central Christian College of the Bible in a double header with the women.
Conference tournament will be held this year in Haviland, KS on the campus of Barclay College, February 16-18 with the NCCAA SW Region tournament at Randall University the following week, February 23-25.
