Thunder Women's Basketball Earns Three All-Region Selections
The Thunder women's basketball team won the 2026 NCCAA Central Region Tournament for the first time in 12 seasons this past week, and they would also have some individual honors to show for it. The Thunder had three players represented on the Central Region All-Region teams. Redshirt-junior, forward, Nekayla Williams would earn a first-team nod for the second straight season for the Thunder. Williams would play and start in seven of the regular season region games. She would average 10.9 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and shot 75.0% from the free throw line in 23.4 minutes per game in region games only. Freshman, guard, Mackenzie Lovett would earn a second-team honor. Lovett would play and start in all eight of the regular season region games. She would average 11.1 points per game on 41.9% shooting from the field and 37.5% from the three point line, to go along with 6.9 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game in 33.1 minutes per game. Sophomore, guard, Macayla Hines would earn a honorable mention honor for the Thunder. Hines was also honorable mention all-region in 2025. Hines would play and start in all eight of the regular season region games. She would average 10.4 points per game on 49.3% shooting from the field and 33.3% shooting from the three-point line, to go along with 6.5 rebounds per game, 5.0 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game in 38.5 minutes per game in region games only.
The Thunder are stilling waiting their seeding for the NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament that will be hosted by Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. More information on the tournament will be released in later this week.
