Recap: Thunder Women's Basketball Cannot Find Groove at Champion Classic

Hot Springs, Ark.

The Thunder women's basketball team traveled to Hot Springs, Arkansas to compete in the Champion Classic over the weekend. The Thunder would face two more NCCAA Southwest Region opponents facing three of the six teams to open up the season. On Friday evening, the Thunder would play Dallas Christian College. After one quarter, the Thunder would have trouble scoring as they would trail 10-3 after 10 minutes. The second quarter was better as they would score 15 points, but would find themselves behind 31-18 at the break. A lack of scoring in the third and fourth quarters would prove enough for the Crusaders to close out the Thunder by a score of 57-33. The Thunder would have 32 turnovers on the night, but would force 29 on the defensive end and out-rebound the Crusaders, 41-35. It proved to be that the Thunder had trouble converting on the offensive end. Redshirt-senior, Nekayla Williams would have 10 points and nine rebounds to lead the Thunder. The Thunder would shoot 23.0% from the field, 4.5% from the three point line, and 33.3% from the free throw line.

With a quick turnaround, the Thunder would play the host, Champion Christian, on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder could not find their groove and would fall to the Tigers, 92-50. With the two losses, the Thunder fall to 0-3.

The Thunder will be back at home to play Central Christian College (KS) on Tuesday, November 11th at 5:00PM at the Howie's Activity Center.
