Thunder Volleyball Remains #1 in Latest NCCAA Coaches' Poll
The second National Christian College Athletic Association Coaches' Poll of the season for DII Women's Volleyball has been released and the Thunder remain as the #1 ranked team in the nation. With a total of 60 points, the Thunder edge out North Central University for the top spot. The Thunder will play now #5 ranked, Bob Jones University, and #3 ranked, Boyce College, this weekend at a tournament at Welch College in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Thunder will head to Gallatin, Tennessee to play three matches over the weekend. They open the tournament with the reigning National Champions, the Bob Jones Bruins, on Friday, September 27th at 3:30 PM, then the Trinity Baptist College Eagles and the Boyce College Bulldogs on Saturday, September 28th at 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, respectively.

Recap: #1 Volleyball Cruises to Two Wins
The #1 ranked Thunder volleyball team had two matches on Friday where they cruised to two more wins for wins number nine and ten on the season. The Thunder would make quick work of NCCAA Central Region opponent, the Union Adventist University Warriors (25-11, 25-8, 25-15), who met on August 30th in Lincoln, Nebraska. The evening game would be a Midwest Christian College Conference and NCCAA Central Region match against the Central Christian College of the Bible Saints, where the Thunder would win again by way of sweep (25-10, 25-12, 25-16). With the two wins, the Thunder improve to 10-2 overall, 4-0 in the MCCC, and 7-0 in NCCAA Central Region play.
The Thunder will be on the road for the next seven matches. They will head to Gallatin, Tennessee to participate in the Welch College Tournament on September 27th and 28th where they will have a rematch with the #3 ranked Bob Jones University Bruins. The Thunder and Bruins met in the 2023 NCCAA DII Women's Volleyball National Championship match. Along with a rematch with the Bruins, the Thunder will play the Trinity Baptist College Eagles and the #4 ranked Boyce College Bulldogs.

Recap: #1 Volleyball Takes Down Calvary
The Thunder volleyball team was back in action with a weekday Midwest Christian College Conference and NCCAA Central Region matchup against the Calvary University Warriors. The Thunder took down the Warriors (25-13, 25-18, 25-15) for the second time this season by way of a sweep. With the win, the Thunder move to 3-0 in MCCC play, 4-0 in the Central Region, and 8-2 overall.
The Thunder continue their home stand with two matches on Friday, September 20th. At 1:00 PM, the Thunder will host the Union Adventist University Warriors, who they beat 3-0 on August 30th in Lincoln, Nebraska. At 5:00 PM, conference opponent, the Central Christian College of the Bible Saints will take the court against the Thunder. Both matches will be at Howie's Activity Center.

The Thunder volleyball team dominated the weekend with wins over Kansas Christian (25-11, 25-9, 25-12) and Ozark Christian (25-15, 25-23, 25-13). The Thunder opened the afternoon with a sweep of the Falcons. With the win, the Thunder move to 3-0 in the NCCAA Central Region. Their second match win was done in the same fashion as they swept the Ambassadors. In second set, the Thunder found themselves down 22-15, and rallied off nine straight points to take the lead 24-22. They would win the second set, 25-23. With the conference win, the Thunder have now extended their MCCC regular season win streak to 50 consecutive wins. The Thunder are now 7-2 overall and 2-0 in MCCC play.
The Thunder will be home for a weekday conference match on Tuesday, September 17th against the Calvary University Warriors at 7:00 PM at Howie's Activity Center. This will be the second time the Thunder will play the Warriors as they met on September 6th in Belton, Missouri where the Thunder were victorious, 3-0.

Coming off being the newly named #1 women's volleyball team in NCCAA Division II this afternoon, the Thunder volleyball team beat Spurgeon (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) this evening to move to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in NCCAA Central Region play. A balanced offensive attack had five Thunder players with at least five kills. Liv Lubbers led the way with 10 kills, while Jacey Schurle had 8, Hannah Beukelman and Jayda Juenemann each had 7, and Ellie Wilson rounded off the attack with 5 kills of her own. Schurle, Beukelman, and Juenemann all had an attack percentage of 0.583 or higher. As a team, the Thunder hit a staggering 0.413 percentage and had 12 service aces. Josie Mehl had 34 assists to pace the Thunder.
The Thunder return home to play two matches on Saturday, September 14th against Central Region opponent, the Kansas Christian College Falcons and Midwest Christian College Conference rival, the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors. The first match will be against Kansas Christian at 1:00 PM, with their second match beginning at 5:00 PM at Howie's Activity Center.

After a 4-2 start to the season, the Thunder volleyball team is ranked #1 this week in the first National Christian College Athletic Association Coaches' Poll of the season for DII Women's Volleyball. With a total of 55 points, the Thunder edge out Arlington Baptist University for the top spot. The Thunder will play #3 ranked, Bob Jones University, and #4 ranked, Boyce College, in just over two weeks at a tournament at Welch College in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Thunder volleyball team opened Midwest Christian College Conference play on the road at Calvary University and they would sweep the Warriors (25-14, 25-13, 25-20) to earn their first conference win of the season. The Thunder are 2-0 on the road this season and are now to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the MCCC.
The Thunder continue their road swing with a NCCAA Central Region match against the Spurgeon College Knights on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:00 PM at the Mathena Student Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Thunder Volleyball Primed for Another Undefeated Regular Season
Thunder Volleyball Primed for Another Undefeated Regular Season
The Thunder volleyball team will open Midwest Christian College Conference play on Friday night when they travel to Belton, Missouri to take on the Calvary University Warriors. Heading into the 2024 season, the Thunder are on a 48-match MCCC regular season win streak dating back to the 2018-19 season. The Thunder and Warriors played each other four times last season, two regular season matches and two postseason matches with both postseason matches being in the MCCC Tournament Championship and NCCAA Central Region Championship, respectively. Coming off their fifth straight undefeated conference regular season, the Thunder are primed for another undefeated regular season and a sixth regular season and tournament title. A 10-game conference slate is scheduled for the Thunder.
Head coach Lauren Sanders is excited to start conference play, "The team is continuing to come together and we are looking forward to conference play. With three teams ranked nationally in the NCCAA last season in our conference, we are looking forward to the competition while continuing our winning streak. Opening conference play with Calvary will be a good challenge for us!"
Friday's match will start at 7:00 PM at The Pyramid Athletic Center at Calvary University.
