Recap: Thunder Women's Basketball Bested on the Road by Hesston
The Thunder women's basketball team traveled south to Hesston, Kansas to take on Hesston College on Monday night. The Thunder would come out and hit three three-pointers take a 17-15 advantage after one quarter. A fourth three by redshirt-junior, Cortnea Wagner would increase the Thunder lead to five early in the second quarter. Unfortunately, the Larks would go on to outscore the Thunder 28-6 after that three and would take a 43-26 lead into the half. A slow start out of the half by the Thunder would give the Larks a 27-point lead headed to the fourth quarter. A valiant fourth quarter effort would come up short as the Thunder would win the quarter 24-15, but would ultimately fall to the Larks, 77-59. Redshirt-senior, Nekayla Williams would lead the Thunder with 22 points on 10-17 shooting from the field, while sophomore, Macayla Hines would have 14 points and five rebounds. Freshman, Jasmine Holloway would chip in with seven points and five rebounds for the Thunder. The Thunder would shoot 34.4% from the field, 18.5% from the three-point line, and 83.3% from the free throw line. The Thunder are still seeking their first win on the season dropping to 0-5 after the loss.
The Lady Thunder will also play three games this weekend at the Faith Classic opening with Trinity Bible College on Thursday, November 20th at 10:15AM at the Nettleton Center in Ankeny, Iowa.
